A hunting zone is a geographic division of Quebec used to manage sport hunting. The ministry (MFFP) split the province into 28 hunting zones, numbered 1 to 24 and 26 to 29 (zone 25 exists for fishing only).
Each zone has its own rules: opening dates by species, allowed weapons (firearm, bow, crossbow), bag limits, restrictions on females and, for moose, a draw in some zones.
Before hunting, identify your zone and check its seasons. Many zones are subdivided (east/west, north/south) with different dates. Hunting out of season or out of zone exposes you to heavy fines.

The Quebec licence is valid across the province, but each zone has its own seasons and limits by species. Wildlife reserves, ZECs and outfitters may require access fees or a draw on top of the licence.
